Learn how to make the iconic Pastel de Nata in a cozy, hands-on cooking workshop in the heart of Porto, near Sé do Porto, guided by instructors with years of experience in Portuguese pastry.
During the workshop, participants take turns actively participating in the recipe, following a clear step-by-step process under the guidance of the instructor. Participation in the preparation is shared among the group. For full, individual participation in all stages, please ask about our private workshop option.
The class focuses on preparing the custard filling and the baking process. The puff pastry is pre-prepared, and you’ll receive a house-made recipe to recreate it at home, as it takes several hours to be ready for use.
The session includes a short and accessible introduction to the history of the Pastel de Nata in Portugal, from its origins in Lisbon to its evolution into one of the country’s most famous pastries.
Each participant will prepare several Pastéis de Nata, which can be enjoyed on site or taken away. A transport box is included for your pastries.
Throughout the workshop, enjoy Port wine, juice, water, coffee, and a selection of sweet and savory snacks in a relaxed and social atmosphere. At the end of the session, you’ll leave with the confidence and the recipe to recreate this Portuguese classic at home.
The workshop takes place at Domus Arte, a space entirely dedicated to workshops and art exhibitions. The Pastel de Nata Workshop in downtown Porto is taught in English.
Due to limited space, additional individuals who were not included in your booking may be present at the workshop. In this way, you will experience Portuguese culture and cross paths with others in a real exchange of experiences. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

I absolutely loved this experienceit was truly the best decision to take this Pastel de Nata workshop!
During my visit, it was raining, and I was looking for a cozy, relaxing way to spend the afternoon, away from the weather. This workshop turned out to be perfect. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly kind, fun, and genuinely wonderful people. They made us feel comfortable from the very beginning.
We had such a great time! Not only was it fun, but it was also very informative. They explained the history behind the pastel de nata, walked us through the ingredients, and guided us step by step through the recipe. It’s actually not that difficult, and I feel confident that I can recreate it at home.
And of course—the best part—it was absolutely delicious! Honestly, I liked the pastel de nata we made there even more than the ones you can find around the city.
I would highly recommend this experience to anyone. It was fun, educational, and truly memorable. Definitely worth it!
We loved the workshop afternoon received from Phillipe, second to none knowledge with lots of extra personal advise for someone who loves cooking and the science behind it! 10/10
This was my second time taking this class and it was as amazing as the first! Luis and Filipe were awesome and engaging and really took their time to share their insights.
We had a great time making pastel de nata, it was fun and easy to make (and of course very delicious) thank you Louis :)
