Learn how to make the iconic Pastel de Nata in a cozy, hands-on cooking workshop in the heart of Porto, near Sé do Porto, guided by instructors with years of experience in Portuguese pastry.
During the workshop, participants take turns actively participating in the recipe, following a clear step-by-step process under the guidance of the instructor. Participation in the preparation is shared among the group. For full, individual participation in all stages, please ask about our private workshop option.
The class focuses on preparing the custard filling and the baking process. The puff pastry is pre-prepared, and you’ll receive a house-made recipe to recreate it at home, as it takes several hours to be ready for use.
The session includes a short and accessible introduction to the history of the Pastel de Nata in Portugal, from its origins in Lisbon to its evolution into one of the country’s most famous pastries.
Each participant will prepare several Pastéis de Nata, which can be enjoyed on site or taken away. A transport box is included for your pastries.
Throughout the workshop, enjoy Port wine, juice, water, coffee, and a selection of sweet and savory snacks in a relaxed and social atmosphere. At the end of the session, you’ll leave with the confidence and the recipe to recreate this Portuguese classic at home.
The workshop takes place at Domus Arte, a space entirely dedicated to workshops and art exhibitions. The Pastel de Nata Workshop in downtown Porto is taught in English.
Due to limited space, additional individuals who were not included in your booking may be present at the workshop. In this way, you will experience Portuguese culture and cross paths with others in a real exchange of experiences. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The class was fantastic! They were great with my 8 and 12 year old kids. Everyone got lots of turns to help cook. The finished product was delicious!
We had such a great time at the Pastel de Nata workshop! They were so welcoming of us and made us feel like longtime friends. They taught us how to make the Pastel de Nata in a fun and easy way. Best of all, it tasted so good! Even though I know the recipe now, I still would do the workshop again!
Amazing workshop, so fun and interactive, lots of interesting facts and enough down time to not feel stressed or rushed. Snacks and drinks provided - great choice of water port or orange juice. Met some lovely people and the guides were helpful, fun and informative. Got to take home the recipe too and have a takeaway box for 2 pastel de natas. Delicious!!
It was really fun to have a different experience while here in Porto! The guys taking the class were very personable and explained in detail and gave everyone a chance to e to participate
