Learn how to make the iconic Pastel de Nata in a cozy, hands-on cooking workshop in the heart of Porto, near Sé do Porto, guided by instructors with years of experience in Portuguese pastry.
During the workshop, participants take turns actively participating in the recipe, following a clear step-by-step process under the guidance of the instructor. Participation in the preparation is shared among the group. For full, individual participation in all stages, please ask about our private workshop option.
The class focuses on preparing the custard filling and the baking process. The puff pastry is pre-prepared, and you’ll receive a house-made recipe to recreate it at home, as it takes several hours to be ready for use.
The session includes a short and accessible introduction to the history of the Pastel de Nata in Portugal, from its origins in Lisbon to its evolution into one of the country’s most famous pastries.
Each participant will prepare several Pastéis de Nata, which can be enjoyed on site or taken away. A transport box is included for your pastries.
Throughout the workshop, enjoy Port wine, juice, water, coffee, and a selection of sweet and savory snacks in a relaxed and social atmosphere. At the end of the session, you’ll leave with the confidence and the recipe to recreate this Portuguese classic at home.
The workshop takes place at Domus Arte, a space entirely dedicated to workshops and art exhibitions. The Pastel de Nata Workshop in downtown Porto is taught in English.

This workshop was so much fun! The instructors were excellent and I feel confident I can cook Pastel de Nata by myself. Highly recommended!
This workshop was a great, interactive experience and a welcome change of pace from standard sightseeing.
The instructors were engaging, patient, and clear with their directions, making the baking process straightforward and genuinely hands-on rather than just a staged demonstration. Walking away with the technique, and eating the warm tarts straight out of the oven, made it well worth the time!
A solid, well-run class and an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. Would definitely recommend for a memorable, interactive activity that goes beyond standard sightseeing!
Great experience, instructors were very fun! Highly recommended! We learned a lot and enjoyed our creations too
